Recycling Schedule :: It's Mandatory
Be sure to have your blue bin out on the sidewalk the night before or early in the morning on the day of pick up. Recycling is mandatory in Burlington. Please read the attached notices about Burlington Regulations and feel free to print the posters outlining what you can and cannot recycle. CSWD (Chittenden Solid Waste Department) has a website which lays out the information for you regarding recycling centers/hours and gives more detail on what you can recycle or trash. They should also deliver a booklet each year to your home, titled, "The A-Z Guide for Recycling".

Trash Pick-up Schedule
Trash pick-up currently occurs every other Tuesday morning.
To assist tenants we've contracted for customized "backyard service". This means that the hauler is responsible for retrieving the wheeled trash "toter" from the backyard during each and every pick-up. However, tenants are still responsible for returning the toter to the compost area after each pick-up and, most importantly, are also responsible (when there's snow on the ground) for ensuring that an adequate shoveled path exists from the street all the way to the compost area where the toter is stored.
NOTE: Storing the toter anywhere other than its reserved spot in the compost area is unacceptable.

Composting :: How-to
Please review (and print out if necessary) the attached document on Composting at 27/29 Germain Street. It outlines how to use and maintain the composting units and how to harvest compost for use in the raised bed or for your potted plants. Please let us know as soon as possible if you have any questions about composting, as it's very important that the compost units be used and maintained appropriately during your tenancy at Germain Street.
